Alalay is a private non-profit organization in Bolivia funded purely by donations. The purpose of the project is to improve conditions and opportunities for street children. Alalay focuses on three key areas: 1). Gaining access to these street children and develop confidence developing their confidence 2). Providing them with educational opportunities as required 3). Providing the necessary vocational training. Alalay was founded in 1990 by a young architecture student shortly after she became aware of the plight of the street children. A close, friendly atmosphere soon developed. . The first house was rented in 1993, making contact with such children the first of its kind in Austria. The first home these children could call their own was built in 1997 and the second in 2001. Since then, all efforts to develop the first Children's Village have been completely successful. Today, Alalay offers such children care, shelter, nutrition, clothing, education, love and respect, vocational training and the required legal assistance, wherever this is required.
